How Quickbooks migration tool can be set-up? How it can be utilized?

YenIki

Hi everyone,

I want to move my Quickbooks from one system to another, and I am aware that this has been possible with the Quickbooks migration tool, but I wonder if it can be done with a browser or if a Mac or other desktop version is required. If not, what precisely are the prerequisites for Quickbooks migration tool?

Can someone help me with this since I’m unsure how to do it?

Hello, @YenIki

It's fantastic that you're attempting to move your Quickbooks to a different system, but you must figure out the prerequisites. Allow us to explain.

You may need a few items when using the QuickBooks Migration tool to transfer your data. Let's have a look:

  • You need a USB flash drive with enough space to store your QuickBooks data.
  • Connecting your new computer to the Internet is another crucial requirement.
  • There should be at least 150–250 MB of free space.

  • Quickbooks Desktop Pro, Premier, Enterprise, or Mac are not required; the transfer may be completed quickly using a browser.

Hello, @KenthLen. It’s excellent that you understand the fundamentals of securely moving your data using the Quickbooks migration tool, but you may need to learn how to set it up in your system. Therefore, allow us to walk you through each step one by one:

    • Start by entering your admin ID and password to access QuickBooks.
    • After you’ve finished, grant access to quickly transfer the data into the system.
    • The next step is to click on the migration tool.
    • At this point, the migrating tool will need a password. Enter the administrator password there.
    • You must select the Start or Run tab after accessing the tool.
    • The process will start with the migration tool.
    • The flash drive also begins copying and transferring some files when the utility starts.
    • It should be noted that the program never formats or removes your data once the transfer is complete; instead, it keeps it in its original state. Nevertheless, you can click the delete tab to remove it if you’d like.

    Hello,

After following the instructions above, I successfully set up the QuickBooks migration tool on my PC. However, during the process of transferring my data, I discovered that the manual backups I had previously made were not transferable. Could someone help me with this?

    Hi, TsangLeo

It’s encouraging to know that you can customize the Quickbooks migration tool by following the above steps. However, once it has been downloaded, you still need to find out what can and cannot be moved. Let us proceed to properly present you with all of these viewpoints.

Data can’t be transferred using the Quickbooks migration tool.

    • The configuration will not be transferred to the new system if you run QuickBooks in a multi-user arrangement.
    • Additionally, you should log in again on the new computer if you have payroll or payment services configured to protect the data.
    • Intuit Data Protect must be removed from the old computer before the user logs in and completes the setup on the new one. All of the earlier backups will remain accessible.
    • They will only copy company files you have used recently. As previously stated, QuickBooks copies just three of the most recent company files accessed. You can either manually transfer the remaining files or recover them from Intuit Data Protect.
    • Also, remember that the Migration tool will not copy any manual backups you have previously made.

Data that can be transferred using the Quickbooks migration tool

    • Printer Setting (PrintEng.ini, wpr.ini, and QBPrint.qbp)
    • Spell Checker (spell.ini and UserDictionary.tax)
    • Financial Statement Designer (FSD clients)
    • Financial Statement Designer (FSD data)
    • Cash Flow Projector (.cfp)
    • Business Planner (.bpw)
    • Statement writer (for QuickBooks Accountant)
    • Advanced reports (for QuickBooks Enterprise)

Therefore, this issue must be addressed because there is a list of the types of data that may be transmitted and those that cannot.
